“Garden of the Mind” is an installation of large works on tarps and smaller panels and creates a world to contemplate our thoughts inside the context of a Garden.

The pieces in this show exemplify Judd’s established use of found objects, collage and mixed media. His work combines a collection of different imagery and material to create a visual poetry. In this case, the metaphor of the garden as a place to discover nature and one’s own place in the landscape of life.

Tom Judd‘s artistic journey began in Salt Lake City, where he spent his formative years before attending the prestigious Philadelphia College of Art. There, he honed his craft under the tutelage of renowned artists Rafael Ferrer, Bob Kulicke, and Larry Day.

In 1979, Judd was included in a survey show entitled Contemporary Drawing: Philadelphia, a joint exhibition curated by the esteemed Ann Percy, of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Frank Goodyear, then President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. At the age of 25, Judd was among the featured artists, and his work was acquired by the museum for its permanent collection. He went on to exhibit his work in distinguished galleries and museums throughout the country.
