Instability

This collection of work by Philadelphia artist Laurie Beck Peterson examines the landscape and ecosystem. Through a variety of alternative processes and material choices, the cycles of nature are considered and elevated to create a higher sense of awareness.

Instability will be on display from September 5 through October 30.

The art reception will be help in the Cope House Gallery on September 14 from 6 pm – 8 pm. Meet the artist, enjoy some light refreshments and get to know the NW Philadelphia art community.

About the Artist

Laurie Beck Peterson (Philadelphia, PA, USA) is an artist specializing in 19th century photographic processes.

Her work exploring themes of impermanence and the growth and decay of the natural world. Laurie’s most recent work utilizes sustainable plant- based printing methods.

Currently, she teaches her research specialty of the contemporary use of historical photo processes at Tyler School of Art + Architecture. Philadelphia, PA.

Her work is exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in many private and public collections. Recent exhibitions include The Woodmere Art Museum as part of The Photo Review Best of Show and The Royal Photographic Society in Bristol, UK, where she was both an exhibitor and presenter at IPE 164. Laurie is included in the 2021 selection of photographers and two bodies of work, “Visible Obscured” and “Arlo” were awarded at the 15th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron Awards at FotoNostrum in Barcelona.
