Upcoming After-School Programs:
Intro to Archery & Wilderness Survival
Mondays, Sept 9-Oct 28, 2024, 4:00-5:30pm
Learn basic safety protocols for archery and wilderness survival. In archery, learn the parts of the bow and arrow, proper stance, grip, and aim. In wilderness survival, learn whittling, shelter building, fire building, field first aid, and foraging.
Participants: children ages 8-12; 16 students maximum
Registration is required.

Fee: $184 for 8 weeks
Intermediate Archery & Wilderness Survival
Tuesdays, Sept 10-Oct 29, 2024, 4:00-5:30pm
Build on what you have learned in the intro class! In archery, work on improving your stance, grip, and aim, and take part in tests of skill, precision, and timing. In wilderness survival, learn more difficult shelter building practice matchless fire building, and learn to make a snack from foraging.
Participants: children ages 10-14; 16 students maximum

Natural Wisdom
Wednesdays, Sept 11-Oct 30, 2024, 4:00-5:30pm
Learn to live off the grid, before there were electricity, phones, and mass production. We will make pottery from clay we have dug up at Awbury, make food and crafts from foraged materials, and learn how to live in harmony with nature. This class will cover new materials from the classes given previously, so feel free to sign up again.
Participants: children ages 7-12; 16 students maximum

Science in the Wild
Thursdays, Sept 12-Oct 31, 2024, 4:30-6:00pm
Learn science outside in nature! We will have lessons in pollinators, trees and tree sex, reptiles at Awbury, watersheds, decomposers, and more! While we will be collecting data and making observations, the emphasis will be on nature and hands-on activities.
Participants: children ages 10-14; 16 students maximum

Fee: $184 for 8 weeks
Click the button on the left to register for an after-school program. If you think you might qualify for a reduced fee, click the “Apply for a scholarship” button. Children living in local zip codes who meet the financial requirements are entitled to a scholarship or sliding scale fee. Please get approval from the Education Director before selecting the scholarship rate. If you have already gotten approval in the past 12 months, there is no need to apply again: you are pre-approved for a scholarship.
