Employment Opportunities
Awbury Arboretum is a free public garden and farm serving Northwest Philadelphia. Building on the social justice values of our Quaker founders, we make a positive environmental impact, educate children and adults, and nurture an inclusive community.
We are currently hiring for Summer Camp positions.
Lead Counselor
Lead Counselors will develop a detailed daily syllabus that sets out activities for every half-hour of the camp day; be in charge of 2-3 other counselors and 2-3 teen CITs; be responsible for keeping track of the campers under their supervision and sending notices to parents and guardians; be responsible for buying camp and snack supplies, keeping track of staff hours for your session, and turning in expense reimbursement forms. Lead Counselors will also meet with their staff for a brief meeting before and after camp in order to hand out the day’s schedule, to discuss problems and issues, and to review the camp day.

Assistant Camp Counselor
Awbury is seeking counselors to work collaboratively with other educators for 1-4 sessions of day camp. Positions are open in all of our camps, so let us know if you have preferences for certain camps. We cannot guarantee you your first choice, but we will make an effort to accommodate your interests. We are also in need of additional archery instructors, so if that holds interest for you, Awbury can pay for training and certification in a beginning archery course in April. Extra pay available for archery instructors, counselors who can teach self-defense, and counselors who have a background in African Studies or Indigenous Studies.
