The Farm at Awbury Rental

The Farm at Awbury consists of the sixteen acres of Awbury Arboretum northwest of Washington Lane.  It is a shared space for various local farmers and organizations- from fabric artists, to bee-keepers, to goat herders- and a community hub for agricultural activity, education, and collaboration.  Our rental venue is nestled among the mission-minded farms, orchards, greenhouses, and gardens.  The Farm is great for birthday parties, meetings, family gatherings, retreats and more.

Rentals at the Farm at Awbury include: 

  • Open-air Pavilion (1,000 sq ft) 
  • Education Center (1,000 sq ft), including classroom, kitchen, indoor restrooms, and additional sheltered outdoor seating. 
  • Access to shared space, including open grassy areas and Farm pathways. 
  • Access to additional portable toilet(s).

      Rental FAQ's

      Availability & Capacity

      The Farm at Awbury is available for public rental on weekends (Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays), April through October.

      • Four-hour rental option 1: Saturday or Sunday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
      • Four-hour rental option 2: Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, 3:00 – 7:00 PM
      • Nine-hour rental option: Saturday or Sunday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

      Farm events have a 100 person capacity. 

      Please note: For larger events at the Farm, please reach out to our Rental Coordinator to discuss possibilities.

      Additional $200 Security Deposit 

      Make a reservation

      (1) Reach out to rentals@awbury.org to inquire about specific dates and availability.

      (2) The Awbury Rental Coordinator will email you the Farm at Awbury’s rental contract form. Complete and submit the form, including payment.  You may either pay the deposit, or the full balance + deposit. 

      (3) Pay Balance.  Your total balance is due one month before your event. 

      Furniture Options

      Rental includes: 

      • 6 Picnic tables 
      • 12 6’ folding tables 
      • 6 2’x4’ folding tables 
      • 32 folding chairs 

      You may bring in additional tables and chairs, but all items must be carried in and out during your rental time.  

      You may bring pop-up tents for setup that day; tents requiring setup or breakdown from a tent company outside of rental hours are not permitted. 

      Catering

      You are welcome to provide your own food and beverage or have it delivered to your event. For your convenience we have assembled a list of excellent, local catering options:

      Parking

      Awbury Arboretum offers free parking. Visitors to the Farm at Awbury use street parking on Ardleigh St and Washington Ln and enter the Farm off Ardleigh St. 

      Renters may drive in temporarily to load and unload. 

      Special Note: The administrative address of the Awbury Arboretum is 1 Awbury Road,  but that is NOT the Farm’s location. Please ensure your guests go to 6336 Ardleigh Street for all Farm events.  

      Setup & Cleanup

      The rental timeframe includes all set up and clean up.   

      Clients are responsible for their setup and clean up, including tables and chairs.  We will arrange for a staff person to be on-site during your event to welcome your team, direct you towards rented areas and items, and answer questions, but they are not responsible for set-up or cleanup.

      Insurance

      • Alcohol: If you plan to serve alcohol, you must provide a certificate of event insurance, in the minimum amount of $1,000,000, naming Awbury Arboretum as additionally insured.
      • Catering: If you are working with a caterer you must provide a copy of their certificate of liability insurance, in the minimum amount of $1,000,000, naming Awbury Arboretum as additionally insured. 
      • Commercial events: If you are using the Cope House for commercial purposes, we require copies of your certificates of insurance, with the following minimum coverages:  
        • General Liability: $1,000,000 occurrence/$2,000,000 aggregate, naming Awbury Arboretum as additionally insured 
        • Automobile if driving a commercial vehicle on the premises: $1,000,000 
        • Automobile, if driving a non-commercial vehicle on the premises: $15,000/$30,000/$5,000 
        • Workers Compensation, if any employees will be on the premises: $500,000/$500,000/$500,000 

      Other Guidelines

      You are welcome to explore the grounds and take photographs, we ask that you do not harvest or alter plants or feed any animals unless a staff member invites you. 

      Amplified music: You can have background-level sound and small speakers. Please be mindful of neighbors and other users on The Farm. Your Host will monitor the decibel levels.  No DJ sound systems or subwoofers are allowed. 

      Decorations: The following items are prohibited 

      • Nails, staples, tape, or tacks in the walls 
      • Sparklers and open flame (except for birthday candles on a cake) 
      • Glitter, flower petals, confetti 
      • Any decorations or event details that harm the landscape  

      Other policies: 

      • No smoking
      • No bounce houses 
      • Cars may not drive or park on the grass and must park only in designated areas. Vehicles may not block the driveway. 
      • If you are running a program that includes children, we require a copy of current child abuse clearances for all adults who will be part of their programs, as either employees or volunteers. 

      Cancellation policy:  

      • Rental events at the Farm at Awbury are Rain or Shine.
      • If you cancel your event at any point, the entire security deposit will be forfeited.
      • If you cancel within (30) thirty days of the event, the entire security deposit and 50% of the rental fee will be forfeited.
      • If you cancel within (7) seven days of the event, the entire security deposit and rental fee will be forfeited.
      • Deposits and venue payments are non-transferable.
