About Xande Cruz and The Batukis Band:

XANDE (pr. Shan-ji) CRUZ and the BATUKIS BAND mix Afro-Brazilian rhythms with samples, funk guitars, bass, drums,  soulful vocals, and the occasional horn to create a sound that is as rhythmic as it is unique.  Xande’s second album, FORTE, is out now and contains new material that reflects the diverse nature of  his music and his love of percussive music that encourages the audience to dance. 

Xande’s music appeals to an extensive audience, moving every listener.  FORTE signifies his commitment to the Indigenous and Afro Brazilian grooves and colors that he has carried with him from his homeland in Brazil to his life in The US. The passion he has for his art and his homeland combined with his great optimism and hope for the greater good can be heard in his music.
