Awbury has been chosen, along with a number of other Philadelphia community-based organizations for the “Restoring Ideals” project – a partnership between Temple Contemporary at Tyler School of Art, WHYY’s Newsworks, and the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts. Each organization must choose an object from their archives that they wish to be conserved by the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts. The public is then invited to vote for the organizations and projects they believe “preserve Philadelphia’s founding ideals of equality, tolerance, and independence”. The top 10 organizations (by votes) will have their object conserved! Awbury is honored to have been chosen for this project, and we are excited about the collaborative energy and public involvement it entails.
