Introducing
The Summer Camp Scholarship Fund
Kids need nature to flourish. You can help.
Our camps open doors to new worlds of freedom and excitement. But for too many area kids, summer camp is beyond reach, even when the opportunity is right around the corner.
Help make a child’s summer come alive with adventure. Donate to The Summer Camp Scholarship Fund at Awbury.
Thanks to a seed grant from the Bird in Hand Consignment Shop of Chestnut Hill and generous individual donors, we’re off to a great start. The scholarship fund will guarantee equal access to exceptional summer camp programs for kids 5-17 years old right here in the heart of Germantown.
We aim to offer full or partial financial assistance to any camper who wishes to attend our program.
Please help us make the Summer Scholarship Fund a lasting resource for the neighborhood, and beyond.
Please Give Today.
THANK YOU!
A Nature Sanctuary in the Heart of Germantown
Awbury Arboretum is a vibrant landscape with a rich history in historic Germantown neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia. Once the home of a prominent Quaker family, the Arboretum has been free and open to the public for over 100 years. The grounds feature planned gardens, historic buildings, AdventureWoods, and the Farm at Awbury.
Nature, history, and community intersect at Awbury, and the Awbury Arboretum Association is committed to stewarding the relationships between these three pillars of our mission, and continuing to tell its story.
Please take some time to explore the Arboretum online, and then come experience it in person. We know you’ll be glad you did.
The grounds of Awbury are free and open to the public every day, dawn to dusk.

What Is An Arboretum?
An arboretum is a type of botanical garden dedicated to the collection and study of “woody” plants (trees and shrubs). We like to tell the children who visit for our educational programs to think of an arboretum as a “tree museum.”
To be more specific, an arboretum is a place that has intentionally preserved specific trees and shrubs for educational and scientific purposes. At Awbury Arboretum, visitors are welcome to view and study the specimens in our plant collection at any time during open hours, free of charge. Awbury also provides educational classes and events for all ages with a mission to connect our community to the Arboretum’s landscape.
