This half-day seminar focuses on sustainable approaches to the management of insects you may encounter on shade trees in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region more broadly. Common and emerging pests will be addressed, along with current mitigation and control strategies. We will talk about beneficial vs. pest insects, the wide variety of treatment options available, and the challenges of plant health care in changing multi-factor growing environments. There will be an open forum question and answer session and, weather permitting, there will be a walk in the Awbury Arboretum focused on plant selection and insects.
This class is a partnership between Morris Arboretum & Gardens & Awbury Arboretum, and will meet at Awbury Arboretum.
This course has been approved to carry 3 CEUs for ISA Certified Arborists (s=1, p=1, m=1), 3 LTE/LTCO CEUs from the NJ Board of Tree Experts, and has also been approved to carry pesticide update credits from the PA Dept. of Agriculture.
