Grand Trees of Philadelphia

January 22, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

2023 is the Year of Trees at Awbury Arboretum, and to start off the year, local tree expert and arborist Ken Leroy will help us get to know some of the Grand Trees of Philadelphia. Light refreshments will be served!

One can find significant grand old trees growing on protected land in Philadelphia and its suburbs. Historic estates, cemeteries, arboretums, College campus grounds, parks, and private places harbor centennial-plus arboreal wonders. Trees have a story to tell about their species and
their age, but also about the grounds where they have been growing all this time. Ken LeRoy will share their stories and images in this presentation.

Arborist Ken Leroy is a recognized speaker, teacher, and writer on Urban Forestry, Tree Care, and Horticulture. He is especially skilled at integrating plants and natural systems into citified areas. His expertise also extends to the identification and conservation of historically significant trees and city and suburban tree management.
