Ecological Weed Management

Join us this June to learn about about the role weeds play in an ecosystem, the life cycle of weeds, and how we can ecologically manage weeds in our greater food forest!

We’ll spend some hands-on time identifying and managing aggressive introduced species in the food forest as well as reviewing weed management techniques including: chop and drop, disabling the reproductive cycle, sheet mulching, and cover cropping!

This workshop is supported in part by a grant from The Hardy Plant Society.

Location: We’ll meet in the Picnic Grove at Awbury | 6336 Ardleigh St, Philadelphia, PA 19138

Instructor: Jeannie Gerth is an Awbury Food Forest Steward and Lead Orchard Volunteer. Jeannie has Permaculture Design Certificate from Whole Systems Design, and a Permaculture Teaching Certificate from Peter Bane and Rhonda Baird.
