Locally Sourced, Farm Fresh Produce at Awbury. The Farm is always free and open to walk and explore, but on Sunday afternoons from spring through fall, you can enjoy fresh local foods, buy fresh produce, and shop for artisan goods. In addition, we have Awbury staff and partner organizations on site to answer your questions, plus fun, family-friendly activities, wellness events, workshops, and demonstrations on the first Sunday of every month.

Sunday Fundays are free and family-friendly activities every first Sunday of the month.  See the goats and chickens, take wellness classes, go on farm tours, and get your hands dirty in gardening workshops.

June 4th Sunday will feature a barn concert and dance, a free plant giveaway and Awbury’s Farm Market!

Connect with the vital energy of late spring through a weekly commitment to mindful movement.This is a slow-flow vinyasa-style class in which breath and movement are brought into synchrony, calming the nervous system and enhancing the feeling of being at home in one’s body. BYO yoga mat and towel/blanket.

What is That Tree? Learn to do some easy tree identification based on the shape, number, and placement of its leaves. We will also do some leaf rubbings to take home and a tree seed bingo game. Join us at Awbury Arboretum on June 10 at 2 pm for this exciting Family Tree ID Hike!

Wild Wisdom is a program designed to introduce participants to some of the most common, under-utilized, wild edible, medicinal, and craft plants of the Philadelphia bio-region, the ancestral homeland of the Lenape / Wingohocking.
 
In 2023, Wild Wisdom is being offered in a new model of 4, 3-hour workshops representing each season’s bountiful harvest: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each class can be taken as an independent one-off class or discounted as a 4-part series.

Find and count as many kinds of plants and animals in a specific area over a short period of time!

We will work with Temple University to get a snapshot of the biodiversity in Awbury!

 

 

 

juneteenth dinner at Awbury

Join Chef Gail Jones-Hinson for a joyous evening featuring cuisine inspired by cooks of the reconstruction era. Guests will enjoy a buffet-style dinner on the tented pavilion of Awbury’s Francis Cope House punctuated by live performances from spoken word artists, poets, and musicians.

Join us in Awbury Arboretum’s AdventureWoods for storytelling of Bring Me Some Apples and I’ll Make You a Pie: A Story About Edna Lewis (by Robbin Gourley), in which the childhood roots of a revered African American chef’s appreciation for the bounties of nature is explored through the seasons.

Children that participate will receive a book and a slice of pie.
