Take a tour at the 56-acre Awbury Arboretum with Lynn Landes, Founder of the Wild Foodies of Philly, and Lady Danni Morinich, a Philly-based herbalist and Founder of LandedGentress.com. They will be taking you on an educational foraging tour of the Cope House grounds and the Farm at Awbury where, in addition to learning about wild edible plants, you’ll also see chickens, goats, bee hives, community gardens, and farm fields!
Location: meet on the steps of the Cope House, 1 Awbury Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19138. Dress appropriately and be prepared for some robust walking!
Lynn Landes is the founder of The Wild Foodies of Philly, an educational organization that was started in 2010. Its mission is to learn more about our wild world and to share that information with the public. Lynn created a resource website at www.WildFoodies.org that contains a large reservoir of information, much of which has been designed by Lynn to facilitate ease of understanding of the more that 200+ edible, medicinal, and fiber plants thriving in the local region. Through their meetup of over 5,000 members, the Wild Foodies have conducted hundreds of tours and hosted events for the public, schools, colleges, and other organizations, some of which have been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer and other news media outlet.
Lady Danni Morinich is Proprietress of Landed Gentress Handcrafted Herbals and uses essential oils and herbs in her bath and body creations. She is a member of the American Herbalist Guild and the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists. She has certification from Laura Moorehead, CA, LMT from Essence Journeys Introduction to Aromatherapy, has studied Aromatherapy with Jeanne Rose and herbalism with Rosemary Gladstar, and has a Master Herbalist diploma from the Centre of Excellence. She was recently featured in Sierra magazine’s article “Wild Food for All” on BIPOC foragers.
This tour is limited to 25 people. In an effort to make these offering available to all we are offering a sliding scale fee of $10 to $30 . All proceeds are to benefit Awbury Arboretum.
It is expected and strongly recommended that all participants will wear masks throughout this event.
