Community Relief Concert Series: Stephane Wrembel Trio

Come join us for an evening of live music during this series of outdoor, safely distanced concerts.

Hosted By Barry Wahrhaftig of the Hot Club of Philadelphia and sponsored by Weavers Way Coop

These shows are a continuation of the Community Relief Concert Series, which was originally a live-stream-only series- initiated by Barry Wahrhaftig of the Hot Club of Philadelphia and sponsored by Weavers Way Coop- with the goal of helping musicians and non-players impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown.  Moving the series to Awbury Arboretum allows the artists to play for live audiences, with all safety protocols observed. Chairs are provided, but feel free to bring lawn chairs or blankets if you wish to sit on the lawn and not under the tent.

A portion of each show’s proceeds will go to local organizations, and September 30th’s beneficiary is Awbury Arboretum!  (Want to also contribute directly to the community relief project?  Check out their GoFundMe page.)

Sunday, September 27th – 5 to 7 PM – Stephane Wrembel Trio, in a rare Philly appearance

With Thor Jensen (guitar), and Ari Folman-Cohen (bass)

French Gypsy-Jazz Guitarist/Composer.  Wrembel’s music was featured in the soundtracks to Woody Allen films like Midnight in Paris and Vicky Christina Barcelona.  The New York Times said: “Perhaps the most creative improviser in Gypsy jazz today, Mr. Wrembel plays the guitar with a rich and colorful lyricism.”
