Join us for the first art show of 2020 in the Cope House Galleries.
These mixed-media works on paper explore the tension and play between scientific and intuitive understanding. The improvisational, multi-layered studio practice I employ utilizes photography, printmaking, painting and drawing to synthesize the opposing languages of expressionist image making with the didactic conventions of field guides and text book illustrations.
Drawing upon a diversity of past and present naturalist traditions, my work presents both observational studies of subjects such as plants, animals and trees as well as excavations of my accumulated emotive experiences of them.
