SUMMARY:Cope House Gallery Presents: The Far Side of the Sea
DESCRIPTION:September 5 – October 28\, 2025 | Mon–Thur 10 AM – 4 PM & Fri – Sun by appointment | Cope House Gallery\, 1 Awbury Rd\, Philadelphia \nVisit the Cope House Gallery from September 5 – October 28\, 2025 for The Far Side of the Sea\, an exhibition by Bonnie Levinthal. This exhibition presents a body of work developed through her responses to place\, completed both at home and during time spent in Greenland\, Svalbard\, and Ireland. The paintings and works on paper explore light\, weather\, color\, and atmosphere\, using watercolor and acrylic\, as well as\nprocesses that involve direct interaction with water\, such as cyanotype and suminagashi. The dominant presence of ultramarine blue speaks to distance\, depth\, and the pigment’s history as a material carried across great distances\, mirroring\nLevinthal’s own travels to remote landscapes. \nFor additional information about the artist\, visit www.bonnielevinthal.com \nAnd don’t forget to join us for the opening reception on September 18th from 6-8 PM! This event is free and open to the public

SUMMARY:Cope House Gallery Presents: The Places we Carry
DESCRIPTION:March 3rd – April 28th | Mon–Fri 10 AM – 4 PM | Cope House Gallery\, 1 Awbury Rd\, Philadelphia \nJoin us this spring for The Places We Carry. A collection of paintings exploring the self by Pragya Gupta. In this exhibition\, the artist explores the question of what it means to hold multiple\, often contradictory identities at once. The paintings investigate this through fragmented figures\, overlapping spaces\, and layers that accumulate like memory—some marks visible\, others buried\, all of them present. The artist is particularly interested in liminality: threshold spaces where one is neither fully one thing nor another. \nSee The Places We Carry at the Cope House Gallery this March! \nAbout the artist:  \nPragya’s work explores liminal spaces\, colliding realities and the search for identity—what it means to live in perpetual transition\, never quite feeling rooted in any single world\, never quite feeling that you belong. Her art asks: is it even possible to unmask\, cross a threshold and feel with certainty\, “this is who I am”? \nBorn in a small town in India in a culture where creative pursuits were forbidden\, Pragya’s journey took her to Philadelphia for an MBA at Wharton\, then to London for a career in finance\, before she found her calling in art. She now lives in Philadelphia. \nHer work invites viewers to reflect on the paradoxical tensions we all navigate: the security of a career we know versus the not-so-quiet whispers of another purpose\, the familiar masks we wear versus the unsettling journey of discovering who we truly are.

SUMMARY:Primary Election Day: School Day-Off Camp
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, May 19th\, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM | AdventureWoods\, 6060 Ardleigh St.\, Philadelphia PA \nNo school? No problem. On select school holidays this year\, Awbury is turning the day off into a day outside—with a full schedule of hands-on\, screen-free fun from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Campers will spend the day hiking\, playing games\, hunting for hidden treasures\, crafting\, and cooking lunch over a campfire (hot dog lunch provided\, or bring your own). Of course\, it wouldn’t be a day at Awbury without s’mores and some muddy adventures. \nRain or shine\, we’ll be out there—so dress for the weather and get ready to explore. School Day-Off Camps are led by our experienced camp counselors and supported by teen leaders from Awbury Adventures Summer Camp. \nFor more information\, contact camp@awbury.org. \nRegister here or below! \nAwbury Arboretum form
