Sweeny is a self-taught painter based in Germantown\, Philadelphia. His art background mainly lies in theater and music\, and is known to many as funk/rock performer Johnny Showcase. His approach to painting is an extension of his approach to music\, bringing vibrancy of color\,  joy and humor to his avian subjects. Swilla is a member of the BPK Art Collective\, which works out of The Braid Mill in Germantown. In his short time as a painter\, he has been featured in shows at Imperfect Gallery\, Attic Brewing Company\, Eremita Café and NoName Gallery in Chestnut Hill.

These gatherings are an opportunity for neighbors\, visitors\, and supporters to learn what’s happening at Awbury\, share ideas\, ask questions\, and help shape the future of the Arboretum. \nJoin us Thursday\, July 30\, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Cope House for the first meeting. Attendees will hear about Awbury’s strategic priorities for the next two years\, learn about exciting upcoming projects\, and help identify the topics and initiatives they’d like to see explored in future meetings. \nBuilding a more transparent\, welcoming\, and collaborative Awbury starts with listening.
