DESCRIPTION:September 5 – October 28\, 2025 | Mon–Thur 10 AM – 4 PM & Fri – Sun by appointment | Cope House Gallery\, 1 Awbury Rd\, Philadelphia \nVisit the Cope House Gallery from September 5 – October 28\, 2025 for The Far Side of the Sea\, an exhibition by Bonnie Levinthal. This exhibition presents a body of work developed through her responses to place\, completed both at home and during time spent in Greenland\, Svalbard\, and Ireland. The paintings and works on paper explore light\, weather\, color\, and atmosphere\, using watercolor and acrylic\, as well as\nprocesses that involve direct interaction with water\, such as cyanotype and suminagashi. The dominant presence of ultramarine blue speaks to distance\, depth\, and the pigment’s history as a material carried across great distances\, mirroring\nLevinthal’s own travels to remote landscapes. \nFor additional information about the artist\, visit www.bonnielevinthal.com \nAnd don’t forget to join us for the opening reception on September 18th from 6-8 PM! This event is free and open to the public

DESCRIPTION:September 18th | 6-8 PM | Cope House Gallery\, 1 Awbury Rd\, Philadelphia \nJoin us at the Cope House Gallery for the opening reception of Bonnie Levinthal’s show\, The Far Side of the Sea. Levinthal’s work is rooted in the exploration and re-presentation of landscape. Through methods and materials that connect process with content\, she creates a visual record of her experiences in response to place. This event is free and open to the public! \nAbout the artist: Bonnie Levinthal (Philadelphia\, PA) received her MFA from Pennsylvania State University and her BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally and has been the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships\, including a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant. She has been a fellow at Yaddo and The Millay Colony in the United States\, and internationally at Lumen in Atina\, Italy\, Nes in Skagaströnd\, Iceland\, the Arctic Circle Residency in Svalbard\, Norway\, and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle\, Ireland. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections across the United States. Levinthal is Professor Emerita at Penn State Abington.

On select school holidays this year\, Awbury is turning the day off into a day outside—with a full schedule of hands-on\, screen-free fun from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Campers will spend the day hiking\, playing games\, hunting for hidden treasures\, crafting\, and cooking lunch over a campfire (hot dog lunch provided\, or bring your own). Of course\, it wouldn’t be a day at Awbury without s’mores and some muddy adventures. \nRain or shine\, we’ll be out there—so dress for the weather and get ready to explore.
