This lecture coincides with her exhibition The Far Side of the Sea at the Cope House Gallery. The exhibition features a body of work developed through Levinthal’s responses to place\, completed both at home and during time spent in Greenland\, Svalbard\, and Ireland. Levinthal’s work is rooted in the exploration and re-presentation of landscape. Through methods and materials that connect process with content\, she creates a visual record of her experiences in response to place. This event is free and open to the public! \nAbout the artist: Bonnie Levinthal (Philadelphia\, PA) received her MFA from Pennsylvania State University and her BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally and has been the recipient of numerous grants and fellowships\, including a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Grant. She has been a fellow at Yaddo and The Millay Colony in the United States\, and internationally at Lumen in Atina\, Italy\, Nes in Skagaströnd\, Iceland\, the Arctic Circle Residency in Svalbard\, Norway\, and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle\, Ireland. Her work is held in numerous public and private collections across the United States. Levinthal is Professor Emerita at Penn State Abington.
