Finding Awbury

Awbury Arboretum is located in East Germantown, on both sides of Washington Lane between Chew Avenue and Ardleigh Street. The entrance to the Francis Cope House and Arboretum, is off Chew Avenue between Washington Lane & Haines Street.

Public transportation to Awbury includes the R7-Chestnut Hill East train (Washington Lane Station) and the XH and 18 buses.

Open year-round

From Center City Philadelphia: Take Kelly Drive or Schuylkill Expressway (Route 76) to Lincoln Drive (Exit 32 off Schuylkill Expressway). Continue on Lincoln Drive 2.5 miles.

Turn right onto Johnson Street (3rd traffic light). Continue on Johnson 1.3 miles.

Turn right onto Chew Avenue (7th traffic light). You will pass 2 traffic lights (Washington Lane, and Walnut Lane just before a railroad overpass). Proceed 200-feet beyond overpass.

Turn left onto Awbury Road. Follow the road to your left up the hill, bearing right into the curve at the top. Please park behind the house (unless directed otherwise).

From PA Turnpike (via Norristown/Plymouth Meeting exit): Get off the PA Turnpike at exit #25. Follow Germantown Pike (aka Germantown Avenue) southeast.

Turn left onto Mt. Airy Avenue (one short block past Wawa on right, Lutheran Seminary on left).

Turn right onto Chew Avenue (1st light). Proceed through several Stop signs and a series of traffic lights. At Walnut Lane (5th light), you will see a railroad overpass. Continue 200-feet beyond overpass.

Turn left onto Awbury Road. Follow the road to your left up the hill, bearing right into the curve at the top. Please park behind the house (unless directed otherwise).

From PA Turnpike (via Rt. 309): Get off the PA Turnpike at the Fort Washington exit (#26).

Take Route 309 South.

Turn right onto Washington Lane.

Turn left onto Chew Avenue (Lukoil station on left). At the next light (Walnut Lane) you will see a railroad overpass. Proceed 200-feet beyond overpass.

Turn left onto Awbury Road. Follow the road to your left up the hill, bearing right into the curve at the top. Please park behind the house (unless directed otherwise).
