“Seedfolks” – a Longwood Community Read Event


This program is in correlation with Longwood Garden’s Community Read Program.

This year Longwood Gardens Community Read is featuring several books including Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman.  Join us in reading this short novel that tells the story of a garden that transforms a neighborhood.

Leo Cooper is the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Philly Green Committee Chair and a member.  She is an avid gardener and has been gardening since she was a child.  She is a Master Gardener and is the president of the Northwest Gardening Association and co-president of the Indoor Plant Society of the Delaware Valley.  She is a member of The Community Garden Club of Awbury, the Philadelphia Cactus and Succulent Society, the American Begonia Society, and the Liberty Bell chapter of Gesneriad Society.  She is a Boy Scouts of America Merit Badge Counselor on horticulture, and she judges and has been a speaker at the Philadelphia Flower Show.  In addition, she provides horticultural programming to seniors and her community.  


35 books are available, first-come, first-serve.  Members of the PHS Philly Green Committee and the West Oak Lane Library Book Club will have their books delivered.  All other community members should contact Heather Zimmerman (hzimmerman@awbury.org, 215-849-2855 x21) to arrange pickup at the Arboretum between now and March 1st.
