Edible Fungi Workshop

Come participate in this workshop combining art with science to learn the principles of growing edible fungi at home!  These principles hold true for small home projects as well as larger commercial operations.  The class will together prepare a substrate ( growing media ), inoculate substrate with gourmet mushroom mycelium and use the mixture to create an artistic addition to the newly planted food forest at Awbury Arboretum, increasing the diversity of edible food on site.

kevinInstructor Kevin Stutler has over twenty years of experience growing food from herbs to apples.  He formerly was the Orchard/Site Manager at Seavey Loop Organics (SLO) in Eugene, Oregon.  Kevin now lives in Philadelphia, and is working with the Philadelphia Orchard Project and Streetscapes ( group dedicated to planting trees and education in Mt Airy).  Kevin has a BS in Botany from Ohio University, a Permaculture Design Certificate from Cascasdia Permaculture, Permaculture Teachers Training and has attended a Paul Stamets “Fungi in Permaculture Course”.
